What Is The Difference Between a Sprint Triathlon and Olympic Triathlons?
December 26th, 2009 by admin
All triathlons involve participating in three challenging races strung together into one long grueling race. First you swim in open water, and then you transition to a bike race and finally a long distance run. An Olympic triathlon is what most are familiar with which involves a 1.5 k open water swim, a 40k bike course and a 10k run. A sprint triathlon is a shorter race, which makes it more enticing to someone new to the sport. This race is 750meters open water swim, a 25k bike course and a 5k run. It is still a daunting task, but for many is more manageable goal.
