What are men’s desert boots?

I think I must have been living in a cave for the past god knows how long, but suddenly every item of clothing has about fourteen different names! Am I the only man on earth that think it’s confusing when a woman tells you she isn’t going to be wearing a scarf, she’ll be wearing a pashmina, or that the shorts on my hand are actually hot pants. The one I find the MOST confusing is the amount of words there are for shoes! Pumps, Loafers, Stilettos, Kitten Heels, Espadrilles, Wedges, Cone heels which is one I learnt the other day. Basically I know the difference between trainers, shoes, and shoes with heels. Even sneakers?! How do they differ from trainers? And it’s getting bad even for men’s footwear! Chukka boots, men’s desert boots, converse shoes, ski boots, and a million others I probably haven’t heard of! Am I terribly unfashionable or is anyone else suffering from having no idea what they’re wearing?
