Achilles tendonitis
February 17th, 2010 by admin
Achilles tendonitis is overuse syndrome that affects the very strong tendon that attaches the very powerful calf muscles to the heel bone. A large amount of load goes through the tendon normally, so if this is combined with some extra high levels of activity or some biomechanical problems, the load may be sufficient to cause an inflammation of the tendon. When this happen, the load on the tendon has be reduced to a level that allows healing to occur. This is done by reducing activity levels, the se of heel raises and things like foot orthotics. Physical therapy is usually needed to help with the inflammation.
