Education Cuts In US Hitting Kids Hard

    September 1st, 2010 by admin

I know the recession had hit the US economy really hard. But, to see the reports about the way that education is having to make huge cuts is such a shame. Some teachers are actually paying for things like pens and pencils, and even textbooks for the kids they teach. A national survey in the US shows the figures for teachers who use their own money to buy basic supplies for the classroom is 97%. The average amount spent per teacher is $350 out of their own pockets. Some spend over $1,000 where in poorer areas parents just can not find the money needed to cover the costs of sending their children to school. It’s only by good budgeting that some schools even manage to stay open at all.
